Some important updates for you

It’s Mechanical Leaf Collection Week in East Mt. Airy!

The City’s leaf collecting machines will be clearing our leaves (between Germantown & Stenton Avenues) on Wednesday & Thursday this week. Since original notification went out a month ago, I thought I’d remind everyone:
Wed. 12/16th: Vernon Road to Washington Lane
Thurs. 12/17th: Vernon Road to Cresheim Valley Drive
Leaves should be raked to the curb (not necessary to pile them) by 7 AM. DO NOT BAG THE LEAVES! Bagged leaves will be collected as trash.

There are also leaf drop-off sites available this Saturday from 9-3. The closest to us is at Washington Lane & Ardleigh St. Leaves should be in biodegradable brown leaf bags (widely available at hardware stores & supermarkets).

Mt. Airy 2025:

As you know the Mt. Airy 2025 Neighborhood Planning process has been moving along for several months. This process is resident-driven, & we need more residents to participate!
On Thursday, 12/17th, from 6-8 PM, there will be a community meeting at Pleasant Playground Rec Center. Teams have been meeting around several important topics: Youth Engagement, Seniors, Education, Public Safety, Housing & Retail. We need your feedback on the work so far, so we can set priorities & go forward.
There will be refreshments — & those coveted blue recycling bins will be available!

There is still a need for people to  do the required surveys for this initiative. Stipends ($10/hour) are being offered to folks who can help out this weekend. Go to http://bit.ly/2025survey to sign up & get more into.

TreeCycling Returns!

EMAN’s popular Christmas Tree Recycling Day will be back in January!
Sunday,1/10th, from 1-4 PM, at Gabbie’s Garden, on the parking lot on Chew Ave. just south of Mt. Airy Ave., (behind the Sedgwick Theater).
Trees will be chipped into mulch which will be given to local community gardens. Don’t let that beautiful tree end up in a landfill or dump!
*** All ornaments must be removed
*** PLEASE, no early dumping of trees.
*** A minimum donation of $5 per tree is requested, to help us defray the cost of the chipper & crew.
If you’d like to come help us unload trees from car roofs, we’d love to see you!

We hope our Jewish friends had a great Hanukkah, & that our Christian friends are enjoying their Christmas preparations!
