Save the Date!

EMAN’s 2nd annual “Saturday Night Fever in East Mt. Airy” fundraising event is scheduled for Saturday, February 27th.

Live music for dancing (or just listening),

food & drink,

& a festive opportunity to meet friends & neighbors.

Last year’s party-goers said it was a

GREAT event!

And all proceeds support EMAN’s work in the community.

Plan to come shake off the Winter Doldrums with us!

There’s been a lot of December excitement in the neighborhood. Some of it was created by that big snowfall, some by residents & merchants, some by our local schools, houses of worship, & community groups.

Our restaurants & shops have been offering unique dining experiences & gift selections, & have been featuring the work of local artists. And several have had a façade transformation (through a Mt. Airy USA program).

Interest in studying Mt. Airy (& why it’s a great place to live & work) has brought students from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia University & Masterman High School to Mt. Airy in November & December, looking at both the residential & commercial parts of the neighborhood.

Valley Green Bank & the Lutheran Theological Seminary are working to bring a weekly Farmers Market to William Allen Plaza, which would be an exciting addition to the neighborhood. I’m pleased to represent EMAN on the committee that’s been formed to work on this, along with folks from the 2 sponsoring organizations & from WMAN, MABA, & the Weavers Way Co-op Farm program.  First, we need to gauge support for the Farmers Market, & you can help this effort by going to

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KQ7V7DN             & filling out a short (really) questionnaire.

Please check the calendar section of our website (www.eastmountairy.org) for information on Christmas tree recycling, a day-after-Christmas party at Brewers Outlet & other community events.

Our office will be closed through January 4th, but you can still reach us by e-mail at info@eastmountairy.org

The December holidays are all about bringing light into a cold & dark world. We hope that whichever holiday you celebrate was/is filled with light & joy & hope, and that the new year brings you good health, happiness, warm friendships……………and peace.
