After almost a decade, it’s time for a chapter to end. It is with mixed feelings that the Board of East Mt Airy Neighbors announces the retirement of our beloved and much appreciated Executive Director, Elayne Bender. Elayne has dedicated 10 years to help move EMAN’s mission of “making a good community better” forward. Her dedication has helped increase awareness of the quality-of-life issues throughout East Mt. Airy, has strengthened our working relationships with our neighborhood and our elected officials. Ranging from zoning to public education, to the arts, to everyday problem-solving, her service to our organization, and to the community, has been immeasurable.“Elayne will be deeply missed by the Board, but I can only be happy for her after many years of service to “East Mt. Airy Neighbors”, said Tonyelle Cook-Artis, EMAN President. “We wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors”. Elayne will be leaving at the end of June.
