On Saturday, September 26th, the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia will officially dedicate its beautiful William Allen Plaza. The event starts at 12:30 pm, & features a presentation about William Allen, & family-friendly entertainment & activities. As a leading institution in the creation of community, LTSP designed & built the Plaza to connect the campus to the Mt. Airy community, & to provide a gathering space that's open to all. We hope you'll attend the celebration. (For more information: www.Ltsp.edu/williamallenday) Also on Saturday the 26th, the Mt. Airy Business Ass'n (MABA) & Valley Green Bank are sponsoring a "Weird Waste" recycling event on the bank parking lot, from 1 till 4. You can bring your unwanted electronics (TVs, computers, printers, etc. --- even batteries!) & be sure that they will be recycled responsibly & safely. The cost to you will be 32 cents a pound, which is less than many other recycling centers charge. We are still receiving responses from our July membership mailing. Many thanks to all who've joined! It's not too late to join us. You can join using PayPal (or access & print out a membership form) on our website ( www.eastmountairy.org). Or call or e-mail us if you'd like one mailed to you (215-242-4170; firstname.lastname@example.org). If you participate in the United Way Campaign you can designate EMAN as your recipient of choice; our code is 0212; a $50 minimum contribution is required. We need your support to continue to work to improve the quality of life in East Mt. Airy. We have been active advocates on zoning & land use issues. We have worked with other area organizations & institutions to address crime, parking, & city services issues. We are re-establishing a schools committee to work with our neighborhood public elementary schools. And we LOVE volunteers! Our active committees include Schools, Mt. Airy Day, Zoning & Special Events. We are hoping to organize groups to work on Chew Avenue improvement & neighborhood greening/beautification. We try to support neighborhood efforts in other areas whenever possible. But we can't do it alone.........Please join us!Our Community/Board meetings are open to all, & we'd be happy to have you attend. We meet at the EMAN Office at 7pm on the first Tuesday of the month (except when there's a conflict; our November meeting will be on the 10th because the first Tuesday is Election Day). October's meeting will be on the 6th............hope to see you there!
