Greetings from East Mt. Airy Neighbors!

We share your hope that we’ve seen the last of the snow this year…………..although I do think the purple crocuses look even more beautiful surrounded by a light snow……….

Hard to believe, but Mt. Airy Day is just a month away! OnSaturday, May 3rd, from 11 till 5, the beautiful Cliveden of the National Trust on the 6400 block of Germantown Avenue (& Upsala, across the  Avenue), will host our 44th annual festival.

Mt. Airy Day draws thousands of people from the neighborhood & beyond. “Food, Fellowship & Fun” has been the event’s slogan for more than 40 years. There’ll be vendors selling a variety of items, local nonprofits eager to tell you about the services they provide, and live entertainment on both our main stage & a smaller acoustic venue on the grounds. And this year, we’ll have Doug Henderson of WDASas our MC!

As always, a variety of food trucks will be selling assorted delights for you to sample, & free valet bike parking will be available to our cycling friends.

The kids’ games, rides & arts-&-crafts activities are always a hit with our younger guests; the Moon Bounce, Balloon Blaster & the ponies will be back this year.

It's a wonderful way to connect (or re-connect) with neighbors & friends!

But, to bring this very popular festival to our community, we need help. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Lots of volunteers! There are a variety of tasks, & this year we’re trying to make it easier to sign up to help. Of course, you can still call to offer help; the Volunteer Hotline number is 215-621-6193. Or you can use our new online sign-up. Go, select “Volunteer”, & choose the task & time slot you want. This is a good way to get community service hours, so if you know a high school student who needs to do that, send her/him to the website.

We’d like to thank the generous local businesses & organizations who are helping make Mt. Airy Day possible: Cliveden of the National Trust, Electrical Wizardry, Mt. Airy Animal Hospital, the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, the Miquon School, Weavers Way Co-op, Mt. Airy USA, Generation 3 Electric, & Valley Green Bank. We'll include any additional sponsors in our next newsletter.
